One of the most exciting days here was when Tania arrived in Santiago. It was so unexpected, which made it even better. I wasn't sure when I'd get to see her because I'm about an 8-9 hour drive away from her, but then I bought a last minute bus ticket to the capital. I managed to get to the airport with my Abuelita Gilda before she came out off customs. I wanted to surprise her, but my family managed to tell her when she changed flights in Dallas. boo.
We got to share a bed together, at Tia Mirtha's house, just like a sleepover. Plus its really cold at night, so if you can manage to share some body heat no one will complain.
The next day we had a barbecue so that all the cousins, aunts, and uncles could say hi to Tania. This time I did manage to surprise everyone, since no one knew I was coming. Can I just say how relieved I was to be around all these people again!? It was amazing. Best time ever. Plus it was warmer than the south.
We all came inside when it got dark to eat dessert and started taking group pictures that can be used in my cousin's wedding in October! SO fun!
One of the last things we did in Santiago was celebrate Tio Hernan's birthday. It was pretty casual, but a there were a lot of people in the house to celebrate with him.
